I joined an Etsy Team!

B.E.S.T, the Bookbinding Etsy Street Team, that's the team I joined. It seems to be more for bookbinders than book artists, but hey. Their website on Etsy is http://BESTbooks.Etsy.com. They have a book swap every couple of months, so I'm thinking I might do a book for that. We'll see.

They have everything: a Flicker group, a Facebook link, a MySpace link, and more. Oh my gosh! I'm overwhelmed. One day I'll take advantage of all that, but for right now I think I'll climb back in my ludite hole.

Distributing type

Yesterday was my first day back in the print shop. Yea! I went out to Betsy's to figure out where the heck I was on the Tarot Card project that I'm doing with my friend Judith. It's been almost a year without printing. Betsy meanwhile had done some work on the carriage house, which is where the press is located. It looked awesome! Still lots of cobwebs (which I kinda like), but there is so much more space. And there's an actual work table. Woohoo!

I had lots of type to distribute, so I spent a good couple hours sitting outside, sun on my back, distributing type. It was loads of fun (no, I'm actually not kidding). Next time I'm out, it'll be setting type. I'm kind of hoping its next week. And soon I'll be printing. Yea!

Sad news to report

I haven't been very good about posting lately, but I have a reason. My friend, Jenny, was in a car crash on Christmas, and she died. She was driving home to Arcata, and her car slid on ice. Her car ended up in oncoming traffic, and from there...well, you can figure it out.

So my postcard this month (my friends, Sara and Katherine, and I do a postcard every month and then send it to each other) is about the accident.

In other news I made Alvar Aalto pop-up books for folks for Christmas.
